Both cities are close by, only 288 km or 180 miles away. You can drive or just take a train. The best time to visit is probably in Spring. Weather is pleasant and the crowds are not there. Summer in Milan can be really hot to the point that locals usually leave in August. Summer in Venice is really crowded. Pick spring, you won't be disappointed. (click here to read more).
